FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about booking, home visits, fees and treatment.
Booking & getting started
Do I need a doctor’s referral to book an appointment?
No. In the UK, you can self-refer directly to a private chartered physiotherapist. You do not need to see your GP first. However, if you have any recent medical reports, operation notes, or scan results (X-rays/MRIs), please feel free to share them with us during your initial visit.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We strive to see acute patients, post-op cases, or severe pain cases within 24 to 48 hours. You can check real-time availability and book your home assessment directly through our online booking system or via WhatsApp at +44 7760 212345.
What is your policy on payments?
We operate as a fully cashless practice. All initial appointments must be prepaid online via our secure booking portal using Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. This guarantees your dedicated home visit slot.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We offer a 24-hour Full Refund Guarantee. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, simply inform us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled time for a 100% refund. Cancellations made within less than 24 hours are non-refundable due to allocated clinician travel and session time.
Can I claim my treatment through private health insurance?
While we operate primarily on a self-pay model, many health cash plans and private insurers allow you to claim back therapy fees using our official receipt, which contains our HCPC registration number. Please check with your insurance provider prior to booking.
Your home visit
What happens during the initial home assessment?
Your 60-minute initial appointment includes a comprehensive medical history review, a detailed physical examination (evaluating joint mobility, muscle strength, balance, and posture), a discussion of your personal recovery goals, immediate hands-on treatment, and a personalised home exercise programme.
What equipment do I need to provide at home?
None at all. We bring all necessary clinical equipment with us, including therapeutic tools, resistance bands, dynamic exercise gear, and a portable treatment couch if required. All you need is a small, quiet space in your home where you feel comfortable moving around.
What should I wear for my home physiotherapy session?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely (e.g., shorts, t-shirt, tracksuits, or gym wear). For knee, hip, shoulder, or back assessments, we need to view and examine the specific area, so appropriate undergarments or light clothing are recommended.
Can a family member or carer be present during the appointment?
Yes, highly encouraged! We strongly advocate for family and carer involvement, especially in elderly care, neurological rehabilitation, and post-surgical recovery. Having family members present helps align recovery goals and ensures exercise programmes are supported between visits.
What if my home space is very small or limited?
Space is rarely an issue! Our therapy interventions are specifically adapted to your home layout. Whether it is practising transfers from your sofa, balance training in the hallway, or bedroom-based exercises, we tailor the therapy to fit your actual living environment seamlessly.
Will I be given exercises to do on my own between visits?
Yes. You will receive a clear, personalised digital or written home exercise plan with step-by-step instructions. Performing these exercises consistently between visits is crucial for achieving maximum recovery efficiency.
Areas & travel fees
Which geographical areas do you cover?
Our primary coverage area is Maidstone and all surrounding locations within a 30-minute drive, including West Malling, Kings Hill, Aylesford, Bearsted, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, and the Medway towns. For visits outside this core zone, a small travel surcharge based on your postcode applies.
How do travel fees work if I live outside Maidstone?
Our standard fees (£90 initial, £45/£60 follow-ups) cover Maidstone and its immediate surroundings. If your postcode is slightly further away, a small mileage surcharge is calculated automatically during booking to cover travel time and fuel costs.
Treatment & expertise
Are you fully qualified and registered in the UK?
Yes, absolutely. I am a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a full member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). All treatments comply strictly with UK medical standards and guidelines.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your clinical condition, severity of symptoms, and personal goals. After your initial 60-minute assessment, we will provide an honest prognosis and discuss a realistic treatment plan. Our priority is to achieve maximum functional improvement in the shortest time possible.
Do you offer pre-operative rehabilitation (“Pre-hab”)?
Yes. Pre-operative exercise therapy builds muscle strength, improves joint range, and enhances cardiovascular fitness prior to surgery (such as hip or knee replacements). Patients who undergo pre-hab typically experience significantly faster and smoother post-surgical recoveries.
How soon after surgery can I start post-operative physiotherapy?
In most cases, rehabilitation begins as soon as you are discharged from the hospital (often within 24 to 48 hours). We coordinate with your surgical team’s protocols to safely begin early mobilisation, pain management, scar care, and swelling reduction in your home.
How does home rehabilitation benefit neurological conditions like Stroke or Parkinson’s?
Treating neurological conditions at home allows us to address real-world daily challenges—such as negotiating your actual staircase, getting in and out of your bed, or navigating kitchen spaces. This home-centred approach maximises neuroplasticity and builds practical functional independence faster.
Do you treat children and young adults (Paediatrics)?
Yes. We offer specialised home paediatric physiotherapy for motor delays, cerebral palsy, hypermobility, posture issues, and sports injuries in children using engaging, play-based therapy techniques in a familiar environment.
How do you manage severe chronic pain at home?
We employ a multi-faceted evidence-based approach combining gentle manual therapy, targeted joint mobilisations, desensitisation techniques, progressive active movement, and educational pain management strategies to break the pain cycle and rebuild movement confidence.
